When planning a trip to an Airshow, which possibly a trip lifetime (As some of these planes may not be their next time, let alone tomorrow). Have a plan, on what you need to bring, some of these thought's I'm sharing our must haves, others gleaned by experience at the shows, these of course be adapted to your plan of action. Okay, to start, first thing you need a bunch of, geared to your camera of course, is storage cards. In the pic showing compact flash cards, in one afternoon I went through all of those cards but one, so be prepared, the last thing you need is that awesome shot looking you right in the face and you have no storage! Second biggest thing, Water! Why would I even mention this. Well I can tell you, there is no shade (except under the wings of planes, or some of the exhibition building's and with the sun, standing on a tarmac, you are going to dehydrate quickly, I was easily drinking 6-8 bottles of water with maybe a gatorade thrown in for good measure.
Camera and lens choices, this is subjective. And based on Camera's I'm using. But remember most of the main camera Platforms have there same options as well. -Camera Bodies: My main choice, mainly due to its large buffer, the Nikon D4, second Body, the D750 -Lens: I took a Tamron F5.6 150-600mm Zoom, Nikon F4 80-400mm zoom, and a Nikon F3.5 35-85mm zoom. I had taken other glass along, but these where the choice after the first day that where always in my bag or on the cameras. -Other equipment, such as camera bags, I used an urban disguise 60 by Think Tank. Again remember your going to be carting this stuff around all day, know yourself not to overdo it. After all you want to have fun! Till next time happy clicking Lance
